So This is What It's Like
You know you've hit rock bottom when your mother not only wants to send you to a matchmaker, but proceeds to look on your behalf at an online matchmaking service! (Granted, I have a few friends whose mothers have emailed them jdate profiles of eligible members of the opposite sex, so I hope they don't take offense!) I'm all for online dating, but I think I would sooner go to a sperm bank than have my mate chosen for me by a complete stranger.

I think you're wrong. I mean a matchmaker doesn't choose your mate, but rather suggest possible ones. Doesn't seem like the most romantic way to meet someone, but definitely no less so than putting your profile on an online dating service. As far as your mom checking out guys for you online, yeah that could be kind of weird. Unless you have similar tastes, then it seems kind of practical.
maybe you should post what you're looking for so eligible blog readers will know whether or not they have the goods.
I wonder if those on-line dating services work. To me they are comparable to blind dates.

Very different. With a blind date, a third party is setting 2 people up, based on X criteria. With online dating, the daters get to choose each other. Of course, you have to trust they are being honest in their online persona.

I think these days there are options of online dating sites to meet singles, in these places you can select the one you are interested in through their photo profiles and information and then through messages, like it is possible on MeetOutside, so this helps in making a decision yourself. So online dating works even when you want to be in charge.
